JOY in the journey...

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy - Psalm 126:3

We wanted to give a little update on Isla's medical journey...
In our last post, we shared with you some tough news at a big appointment we had for Isla on Jan 8th.
Since then, we have been pursuing a new medical team for her that has more experience with Isla's unique needs.

We are so excited to be pursuing CHOP
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Since hearing the hard news at that appointment for Isla, we have been communicating with the complex spine team at CHOP.
They have been so kind and so organized in hearing about our girl and looking into her needs.
We had all of Isla's records and imaging results sent over to CHOP...
Jan 19th they contacted us letting us know all records had arrived and would be reviewed by the team. Jan 24th we were told that two of their main doctors were reviewing Isla's records and today, Jan 25th we were told that the team at CHOP is ready to schedule many appointments for Isla. We will most likely be headed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 4-6 weeks and will have around 4-5 days of appointments lined up for Isla girl.
To say this is great news is an understatement...
We have been praying for a team of doctors to review her medical needs and for HOPE for the future. We continue to pray for miracles for our girl!

Our hearts and minds have fully felt the difficulty of this time. We have felt fear of the possibility of losing our girl...we love her so very much.
Each day is a new day. Some days are really hard...we ache processing hard news but we constantly feel and pursue HOPE. God's mercies are new each day!
We have felt your prayers and know God is at work. It is unexplainable - but we fully can say that God has given us strength and peace in our days...no matter how hard they have been. We are so thankful.

We continue to see Isla's bond with us growing...it is beautiful!
While we have been home majority of the time to guard Isla from all the sickness this winter has to offer, we also have been able to continue to "cocoon" and fully focus on her learning about us and us learning about her. We see her trust growing each day and her opening up to us more and more.
We have said it before, but we mean it...this journey is such a gift!
She is such a spunky, joy-filled, determined, sweet, silly, thoughtful, excited, little gal.
She adores Zeke, which is just so special! She follows him everywhere, most of the time wanting to be touching him or sitting up against him :) Zeke has been so gentle with her and talks to her like she is a precious little thing! "how are you, cute little petunia?!"
Zeke told us a few days ago, "When I am an adult some day, me and my wife are going to adopt kiddos "I need to think about it and pray, but I think I will be adopting from Alaska!" "I am going to name my little girl, Isla Cutie" (enter teary heart-eyes here)

Isla's first time swinging!
Celebrated Isla being in our arms 2 months!

Zeke is getting so big! Like they always say, a second little one
will make your first seem huge! (Even tho he is still a little fella ;) )

1st time for banana splits for Zeke!
Isla's first time trying a taste of ice cream - not a big fan...yet ;)

Family game time!

Our little rescue hero - he LOVES playing "rescue helper"

our determined girl! standing up!
Sometimes it feels like this past year has been a blur...
We see the importance of continuing to pursue "be still" time daily- seeking the Lord, reading his Word, and praying...keeping focused among all the distractions.
Life can be stressful and so many things can be distracting and taking away from what really matters. We really want to be eyes and ears wide open to what God is showing us in this time. We continue to see his faithfulness daily. This isn't easy - our minds can wander, our hearts can feel panic. We are in awe of how God reveals his love and comfort to us. Your prayers and encouragement means the world to us. We mean it!
We had a huge blessing of a few sweet friends pulling together a surprise fundraiser for us.
We had NO idea this was taking place! We just received a message one night to check Facebook...and were overcome with gratitude and filled with encouragement seeing so many of you come together to help us in this journey. We cannot thank you enough.
We also are so grateful for the YouCaring page that has been set up for our family. Sweet family and friends saw we would have needs ahead and they blessed us greatly in asking for your help.
We know this journey ahead will require a lot for time away and many medical expenses and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity. It is an answer to prayer
Our You Caring page - Pray for Isla
We will continue to give updates on our YouCaring page and here, on our blog.
Thank you for being on this journey with us.
We are filled with HOPE and JOY,
Justin, Molly, Zeke, & Isla
